Washington County Seeking Person for Audit Advisory Committee
The Audit Advisory Committee is composed of the County Board chairperson or commissioner designee, the county administrator and two citizen members. The County Board chairperson or commissioner designee serves as chairperson of the committee. The county maintains an Audit Advisory Committee to provide assurance to the County Board concerning the internal and financial controls of the county and to provide greater independence and objectivity to the audit functions.
The Audit Advisory Committee oversees the county's internal audit function, which has responsibilities in internal controls, legal controls and financial reporting. It also presents an annual report of its activities to the County Board.
The committee assists in assuring that financial information generated from the various county systems is reliable and timely, and has clarity and appropriate disclosures. The committee ensures that external and internal auditor recommendations for improvements in internal controls and operating methods receive management’s attention.
Lay members for the Audit Advisory Committee are eligible to receive meeting per diem and mileage reimbursement at the rate established by the County Board.
People with a background in accounting or auditing are preferred.
