Eagle Point Elementary School was recognized Friday for collecting 37 boxes worth of items to send to members of the military overseas as part of the U.S. Postal Service’s Shop, Ship and Share program.

Eagle Point’s after-school program, Adventure Connection, organized the drive for items.  Students also wrote letters to the soldiers.

U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Steve Campos was among the speakers who thanked the students.

“Those letters were heartfelt … you touched their hearts,” Campos said. “You have to understand, and take a second to realize what you’ve done.”
