Fire Crews Battle Townhouse Blaze in Oakdale
An attached garage was a total loss, but no one was injured.
On Sunday at 4:21 p.m., Oakdale fire fighters responded to a townhouse fire at 3536 Genevieve Ave. N.
According to Oakdale Fire Department Capt. Tate Carlson, flames engulfed an attached garage.
"It was a very large, very smokey fire," Carlson said, noting that the garage was a total loss.
Carlson said that the townhouse was unoccupied when crews arrived at the scene. No one was injured, according to Carlson. The cause of the fire is unknown.
The Washington County Sheriff's Department said Oakdale crews were assisted by the Woodbury and Maplewood fire departments in responding to the emergency call.

Very thankful to all the firefighters that came and got the fire under control quickly. It is because of them my home was saved as well as a few other neighbors.

Thanks OFD and OPD. I have deep gratitude to these professionals for their heroic actions. They saved the bulk of our home but more importantly, the homes of those around us. Sure we lost some "stuff", but because of our local heros and a maybe little luck too, everyone is safe, We'll get more stuff and we'll be just fine. Their quick action also saved our family pets under very dire conditions. Monday morning, I was reminded on the news that last year at this time we were working search/recue/recovery at the Joplin tornado. What we lost in our fire does not even warrent mention when considered in the context of what others have lost. We are very lucky people
