Letter: Sen. Ted Lillie Displays Honesty, Integrity, Responsibility, Competence
Gerald Palesh, of Woodbury, supports the Senate District 53 incumbent. Oakdale's Precinct 8 is part of District 53.
Ted Lillie's know-how: create economic growth and jobs, improve the education system for our children.
I heard a pretty unsettling quote come out of the Democratic National Convention, “the government is the only thing we all belong to.”
This is not true! Our government belongs to us, and it is our job as voters to become more aware of our elected officials and hold them accountable. We hire and fire them, but we certainly do not “belong” to them. Our state Senate election is as crucial this year, just as it was in 2010.
For the past two years, Sen. Ted Lillie, a fiscal conservative with a long history in our community, has represented Woodbury. He and his wife, Lynne, have spent a lot of time being actively involved locally, and are familiar with many of us around the community.
I have watched Ted over the last two years. Recently, I saw him door knocking in my neighborhood. He took the time to talk to me, and he expressed his understanding of the importance of fiscal responsibility. He listened intently, took notes on my opinions, and I left the conversation with a sense of relief and trust.
I plan on voting for Ted again because not only is he a good person, but he kept his campaign promises. He campaigned on improving our education system, avoiding tax increases and supporting fiscal restraint within our government.
I am more than impressed with the work he accomplished on our behalf in St. Paul, as well as his polite, respectful manner. Honesty, integrity, responsibility, and competence are qualities that we ought to look for in a candidate that represents us, and with Ted Lillie, I am positive he is the best choice for the job.
