Gator's Liquor is ready to show its appreciation.

Gator's Liquor will be marking its five-year anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 20 with special events throughout the day. 

Gator's Liquor owner Jon Mast said he has made a tradition of making a special event to thank his customers for their business.

"We want to let people know that we care, that they're not just a price tag," Mast said.

The anniversary celebration will take place all day. Festivities include wine, beer and other alcohol tastings at designated times throughout the day. Pizza Man — Gator's neighbor — will also be providing free hotdogs for the event, Mast said. 

There will be a bean bag toss and Gator's will be giving out T-shirts, hats and other trinkets on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

The answer was simple when Mast was asked why Gator's has been able to make to its five year anniversary. 

"We're selling booze," he said, laughing. "Secondly, it's the customers. They're awesome. We have a great time and if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be here." 

Gator's Liquor was Oakdale Patch's 2012 Readers' Choice winner for the "Best Liquor Store" in Oakdale. Here are some residents' comments during the Readers' Choice voting process:
