The Washington County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a residence in Lake Elmo on Oct. 8. A 24-year-old man told deputies that he had been assaulted by his father.

The son — who lives with his grandmother — told deputies that Peters grabbed him by the throat and threw him to the ground at his grandmother's residence. The son said that Peters got on top of him and choked him. The son said he punched and bit Peters in defense.

The son reported that his grandmother gave Peters her car keys so that he could leave the scene before police arrived.

Deputies discovered that Peters is under an active no contact order and that he is supposed to stay away from the residence. The grandmother told deputies that she was aware of the no contact orders but had driven Peters to the residence to speak with the son.

Peters has been convicted three times for domestic assault offenses in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

The state has issued a warrant for Peters' arrest since he fled the scene.
