Oakdale Police Blotter: Businesses Report Theft of Copper

In other reports, 13-year-old girls allegedly stole more than $1,000 worth of items.

Two Oakdale businesses reported theft of copper tubing from their air conditioners in the last few days, causing costly damage to the units, according to Oakdale Police Department Reports.

On June 6, a complainant at Titan Office Park, located at 1399 Geneva Avenue, reported that someone cut out copper tubing and condensers from air conditioners there. The theft caused $4,800 worth of damage to the units, according to a police report.

On June 7, A complainant at Food N Fuel, located at 7445 15th St. N., reported that sometime in the last week, someone cut out all of the copper tubing from the store’s air conditioner unit, damaging some of its panels. The value of the theft was $50, and the damage estimate is $1,200, according to a police report.

  • Between 11 p.m. June 5 and 7 a.m. June 6 someone stole keys and a wallet from the kitchen counter in a home in the 400 block of Gentry Avenue. Police think someone might have pried open the kitchen window screen and reached in to steal the items.
  • Someone stole CDs from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 3800 block of Goodwin Avenue and then used the garage door opener in the car to get into the garage and steal more CDs from the unlocked car in the garage. About $600 worth of CDs were stolen.
  • A holding company purchased a foreclosed property in the 3500 block of Genevieve Avenue and evicted the person who was living there. When someone from the holding company went to check the property, the resident was gone, along with doors, the refrigerator, shelves, drawers a doorbell and other items.
  • Target loss prevention officers caught a 13-year-old Lake Elmo girl who shoplifted $448 worth of merchandise as well as a second 13-year-old Lake Elmo girl who shoplifted $199 worth of merchandise. The girls were allegedly involved in a theft on May 27 where four girls stole more than $1,000 worth of items, the police report says.
  • A five-car pile-up collision occurred in the 7100 block of 10th Street around 5:45 p.m. The cars were all towed by Twin Cities Towing. There were no injuries. One of the drivers was cited for inattentive driving.
  • A man pumped $65 worth of gas into a vehicle at the Holiday station at 10th Street and Hadley Avenue and drove off without paying.
  • In a routine license plate check of a vehicle at Tanners Lake Park around 7 p.m., police found that the registered owner had only an ID, and not a driver’s license. The driver was the registered owner. Police found he had no license, no insurance and was in possession of drug paraphernalia including a pipe, grinder and scale.
  • A complainant reported there was a snapping turtle in the window well of his home in the 6000 block of 46th Street. Police helped remove the turtle and released it on the scene.
  • An Oakdale woman told police that on June 4 her fiancé struck her with a hammer causing a large bruise on her upper leg and then cut open two garbage bags and placed them on the floor, threatened to kill her, then slapped her in the face. The complainant said she is in fear for her safety and her life. The man was located and arrested.

June 7:

  • Police cited a 30-year-old Farmington woman who attempted to steal $91 worth of merchandise from .
  • A cell phone, wallet and keys were stolen from an unlocked truck parked in a driveway in the 500 block of Geneva Avenue between 6 and 9 p.m. The total value of the stolen items is $163.

June 8:

  • A woman admitted to punching a man outside because he told the staff there that she was too young to drink. The man had no visible injuries and did not want to pursue criminal charges.
  • Police responded to northbound Interstate 694 just north of Highway 5 on a report of a male/female domestic assault. The Minnesota State Patrol arrested both the man and woman.
