Oakdale's Hope Church Aims to Serve with Cinnamon Rolls

Hope Church is offering to deliver free, warm cinnamon rolls on Easter morning to the first 100 people who request them.

is giving away free cinnamon rolls, juice and coffee on Easter Sunday—and you don’t even have to go to church to get them.

Postcards will be mailed out Tuesday inviting anyone in the 55128 area code to give the church a call or go online and request a free roll and beverage delivery Easter morning—no strings attached, said the church’s worship pastor Scott Lueck.

“We would be delighted just to bring you cinnamon rolls and coffee and juice and deliver them to your doorstep,” Lueck said. “We’re just happy to be involved and serve in this way … it’s just another way of just connecting and being a part of the community.”

Jillian Balfanz, who delivered rolls along with her husband and two kids last year, said they received varied responses from the five residences where they stopped.

“Some people were like, ‘OK, thanks,’ and some people were like ‘Oh wow, this is a really great thing’ and they were excited about it, she said.”

The church is extending the offer to the first 100 people who respond.

The rolls will be baked fresh on Easter morning, so hopefully they’re still warm when about 20 teams take them to the doorsteps of five houses each, Lueck said.

Last year, about 65 people requested the roll deliveries, but Lueck said the church is hoping for a greater response in its second year.

“If I got something like that from another church, and it was free and no strings attached and they’re wiling to do it,” he said, “I would respond.”
