(Richardson pictures taken by Patty Phillips- Rotary Club Member and District 622 School Superintendent) For the 5th year the Rotary Club Members have raised funds for and distributed dictionaries to every third grader in the nine elementary schools in District 622 on Friday, February 15th. This annual project, led by Sonya Czerepak (Rotary Member and Principal of Cowern School), provides dictionaries to third graders as a way to help promote literacy. The Dictionary Project supports students’ efforts to become active readers, good writers & creative thinkers. The students regularly use the dictionaries to enhance their studies – even beyond third grade. These expanded dictionaries also include Presidential biographies, U.S. State Facts, world maps, sign language instructions, weights & measures and a wide variety of other reference information. Rotary Clubs throughout the world participate in this annual event.

For the fifth year, the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Rotary Club raised money to purchase and distribute dictionaries to every third-grade student in School District 622.

Rotary members distributed the dictionaries on Feb. 15. Students also wrote the Rotary members thank you notes (featured above).
