Ice Cream Social, Buy or Sell, New Coffee Shop: Today in Oakdale

A daily look around the community from Oakdale Patch.

Here are five items to take note of today in Oakdale.

Ice Cream Social

Next month—at the authentic, fully restored one-room schoolhouse near the Oakdale Discovery Center—there will be an ice cream social hosted by the local historical society.

Set for 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, historical society officials will be serving ice cream sundaes and root beer floats (suggested donation $2), answering questions about Oakdale’s history, and possibly giving away a few door prizes.

Just Desserts

Looking for a low-carb dessert to enjoy during these hot days?

Check out this raspberry angel food cupcake with lemony glaze from Oakdale Patch blogger Barbara Miller.

These angel food cupcakes are very light, they are made with egg whites and the fruit topping has minimal sugar but you would never know it because I think this dessert is elegant and beautiful and what a way to impress your company. These cupcakes are very big on flavor!
