Canvas Health Announces Competitive Food & Wine Event

Valley chefs compete as guests sample gourmet meals and vintage wines

Canvas Health today announced the date and location of their Valley Vine & Harvest Throwdown. The 5th annual competitive food and wine event will be held on Sunday, October 13th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the LakeElmo Inn EventCenter in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.

This year a new pre-Valley Vine & Harvest Throwdown event experience called the Grand Cru VIPevent will offer food and wine lovers an opportunity to enjoy specially made, over the top hors d’oeuvres as our food and wine experts share their secrets and recipes.

The public is invited to register for the event atwww.canvashealth.org or by calling Melonie at (651) 275-4314. Tickets are $85 per person. Event sponsorships are still available.

Chef John Schiltz of the LakeElmo Innchallenges seven area chefs to bring their best dishes to compete for top prize. Participating restaurants include: Domacin Wine Bar, Marx Fusion Bistro, Phil’s Tara Hideaway, San Pedro Café, Danny’s Bar & Grill, Acqua Restaurant& Bar and The Green Room.

During the event, guests feast on seven delectable mini-meals and sample complementary wines. Guests learn cooking techniques, vote on their favorite meal and have the opportunity to bid on unique live and silent auction items, or win a bottle of wine from the wine wall.

“The chefs were amazing. I sampled vanilla smoked baby back ribs, poached scallops with pumpkin puree, and duck confit with Roquefort and prosciutto, plus much more,” said attendee Clara Johansson.

Canvas Health is dedicated to bringing hope, healing and recovery to people’s lives. Each year Canvas Health programs serve more than 8,700 children, adolescents, adults and elderly challenged with debilitating aspects of mental illness, chemical misuse, aging, or physical and sexual abuse. Additional Canvas Health programs and services include: Crisis Connection; utilizing both volunteers and staff, who answer 44,000 crisis calls annually, a safe transportation program completing 38,000 rides annually, assistance of housing, employment and referrals to over 530 homeless youth, and anti-bullying educated to over 11,700 Washington County students. Proceeds from the Valley Vine & Harvest Throwdown will benefit a wide array of Canvas Health programs and services.
