Tree planting in Eastside Park

To celebrate Arbor Day, the City of Oakdale and Koch Pipeline Company will plant six trees at Eastside Park (located at the 1700 block of Helmo Avenue in Oakdale).  The event will be held on Friday, April 27, from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.  The public is welcome to attend.

“Having strong, healthy and beautiful trees within our community is part of what makes Oakdale a great place to live,” said Chris Larson, Oakdale city forester.  “It is important to continue to plant new trees to ensure that future generations can enjoy these same benefits.”

Volunteers will plant swamp white oak, Princeton elm, northwood maple, autumn gold ginkgo, bur oak, and hackberry trees at predetermined locations throughout the park.  Volunteers will also receive tree seedlings to plant in their own yards.

“A lot of thought and planning goes into determining where to locate new trees.  Arbor Day is a good reminder to always call 811 before you dig and be mindful of pipelines, electrical lines, and other hazards when planting trees,” said Dave Stecher, vice president, northern operations for Koch Pipeline Company.
