Oakdale's Free 'Winter Wonderland' is Back

The Winter Wonderland will be at the Oakdale Discovery Center on Saturday.

And just in time for the city's Winter Wonderland event.

It's been about 15 years since the first Winter Wonderland event in Oakdale, but it sure has changed since then, said Oakdale Recreation Superintendent Julie Williams.

"When we started it was very small at the old Nature Center building," Williams said. "We probably had 100 people or so, and now it has evolved to more than 1,000 people."

Williams said the free event is in its fifth year at the Oakdale Discovery Center. The following will be featured at the event this year:

  • Giant bonfire with smores
  • Free breakfast and lunch
  • Indoor visits with Santa Claus
  • Hayrides
  • Holiday crafts and facepainting
  • Petting zoo
  • Sledding Hill (weather permitting)
  • Dog sled rides (weather permitting)

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Platinum Bank, the Oakdale Business and Professional Association and the Maplewood-Oakdale Lions Club.
