Patch Picks: Mother's Day

From day spa getaways to breakfast in bed, Patch has you covered for ideas to celebrate Mother's Day.

Motherhood is a demanding job, consuming 168 hours a week for 18 years, with only one vacation day per year. Whether the mom in your life is your own mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, or yourself, here are some ideas to make Sunday, May 8, extra special.

Think out of the box and dump the flowers and chocolates in favor of waking Mom up with breakfast in bed—but first stop by Great Harvest Bread Company.  Baked fresh daily using the freshest ingredients, this shop even offers low-carbohydrate and fat-free loaves. Their Mother’s Day specials include white chocolate cherry swirl bread, chocolate brownie hearts, and chocolate bliss cookies!

Heartfelt, handmade gifts from youngsters are great, but we're sure no mom would object to a little pampering on the side. On May 4 and 5, this Lake Elmo salon and spa is offering a gift bag of swag—hair care, skin and hand products—to the first 15 women to book the Mother’s Day Special. Including a facial, shampoo and style, and an express manicure. This special is good for first-time customers.

The Machine Shed Mother’s Day Brunch
This is probably not the first place that comes to mind when taking  the mom in your life out to brunch, but The Machine Shed is softening its image for Mother’s Day. From 7 – 9 a.m., enjoy a breakfast brunch with omelette station, biscuits and gravy, and more. From 9 a.m.-3 p.m., breakfast truly turns into brunch with roasted turkey, ham, prime rib and other sides.

Pump It Up is offering a Mother’s Day special with savings of over $100 on the Classic 15 party package, including a cake, snack, drink, ice cream, goodie bags and balloons! It’s a two-hour party for a maximum of 15 kids. Dads, wrangle up the neighborhood youngsters, and let the moms enjoy some quietude.

Give mom a little R&R with a gift certificate for a European facial and one full-hour body massage—and save yourself some cash with this 20 percent off deal. With several locations in the Metro area, there’s bound to be one within easy distance of your mother—and maybe you’ll have to get one for yourself as a pat on the back, too.
