Art Unveiling & Cultural Fair

Please join us for a community event at Skyview School where we will be unveiling our striking new artwork in conjunction with a cultural fair. The Trouble with the Alphabet is a project that culminated in a book of the same name. It was conceived, researched, painted, and written by Caryn West. Caryn’s passion is working on humanitarian projects, where she can use her artistic skills and creativity to bring about awareness of global issues. The book highlights 26 different countries, one for each letter of the alphabet. The countries selected represent a wide range of human rights abuses and injustices that plague the world and prey on the smallest and youngest in society – the children. This project is a campaign to raise awareness and to instill a greater sense of social responsibility in people. Skyview Community School is honored to have received a generous grant that allows us to become only the 4th school in the nation to adorn our halls with the beautiful and culturally relevant artwork from Caryn West’s book. We will be unveiling 2’ by 2’ plaques of each letter and child along with 1’ by 1’ plaques of each poem from the book at this event. To celebrate diversity and bring further awareness of these countries’ troubles to the public eye, we would like to invite you to attend. There will be vendors and exhibitors from countries all across the world along with students from Skyview School sharing their culture projects. Author/Artist, Caryn West, will be in attendance. We hope to see you there! Please check out Caryn West’s website: www.thetroublewiththealphabet.com.
