Get Out: 'Oh, the Places You’ll go!'
Oakdale's weekend entertainment guide back to the Civil War, through illuminated trails with stops at the theater and patio.
It’s Thursday. The snow’s a-melting and spring is in the not-t00-distant future. Mother nature is pushing winter out, but it’s not quite time to roll out the in-line skates. Since the interim period between seasons leaves us at a loss for action, Oakdale Patch has found a few options to get you started this weekend.
FULL MOON SNOWSHOE
Where/When: Meander over to the on Friday, Feb. 18, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Why Go: Despite spring’s best efforts, we still have snow to enjoy, so join this guided snowshoe hike to admire the full moon. After a jaunt down the trail lined with luminaries, enjoy a bonfire with hot chocolate and marshmallow roasting.
Price: $10 per person or $35 for a family of four
Where/When: on Friday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m.
Why Go: Skyview Middle School provides an entertaining spin-off performance of Seussical the Musical. Regardless of age, you simply can’t deny the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss.
Price: $5 adult, $3 student
Where/When: At in the social hall on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy a great family-friendly event with music and games while supporting an American Cancer Society Relay for Life team.
Price: $5 per person or $15 per family
Where/When: on Sunday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m.
Why Go: Hampton Smith, a Civil War history author will share his expertise and discuss the book Brother of Mine: The Civil War Letters of Thomas and William Christie. Be sure to also check out the portrait display honoring Minnesota’s first volunteer infantry 150 years ago.

Where/When: St. Paul River Centre on Thursday, Feb. 17, and Friday, Feb. 18, from noon to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
