Kids Planner: Monarchs and Movie Nights
Take your family to see a movie or concert in the park this week.
There are plenty of family-friendly events going on in the area. Here are a handful of them:
Magnificent Monarchs
- When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 27 from 1:30–3 p.m. at the Maplewood Nature Center.
- Why Go: Learn about Monarch butterflies and how to catch and release them safely. Make your own butterfly craft to take home.
- Geared Toward: Children age 3–10 with an adult.
- Price: $4 per child. Register by Aug. 26.
Yogi Bear

- When/Where: Friday, Aug. 26 at dusk at the Battle Creek Recreation Center.
- Why Go: Take family to movie night outside! Bring your own lawn chair and a few snacks and settle in.

- When/Where: Aug. 26–28 at Ojibway Park in Woodbury.
- Why Go: If opening weekend at the Minnesota State Fair is a little daunting, check this out. The parade and the fireworks are on Sunday.
- Geared Toward: The whole family.
- Price: Free – but bring some cash for food and rides.

- Why Go: If a Tuesday movie in the park isn’t your thing, why not take in this concert? Dress up in your favorite '60s gear to try to win prizes while you listen to this Beatles tribute band.
