Kids Planner: Outdoor Movie, Intro to Geocaching, Lesson on Leaves

Get out with your family and take advantage of the nice weather.

School's in session, but there's still lots to do around town with your family.

Spiderman 3 and Everett Smithson Band

  • When/Where: Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at Raspberry Island
  • Why Go: Now that the outdoor movie/entertainment season is winding down this may be your last chance to grab your picnic blanket and enjoy some entertainment al fresco.
  • Geared Toward: The whole crew (the movie is rated PG – 13).
  • Price: Free.

 Geocaching Basics

  • When/Where: Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Carver Lake Park in Woodbury.
  • Why Go: With fall colors promising to be the best in a decade, this is a great way to get the family outside and exploring. GPS units are provided.
  • Geared Toward: Families with kids 6 and older.
  • Price: $15 per family or group (up to 5 people).

Introduction to Geocaching

  • When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the .
  • Why Go:  If you want to learn how to participate in this activity and missed the previous opportunity, here is another chance to try your hand at it.
  • Geared Toward: Elementary age and older.
  • Price: $5 per participant.

Lessons from a Leaf

  • Why Go: Learn about why and how leaves change colors in the fall.

Squirrels and Acorns

  • When/Where: Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10–11:30 a.m. at the Maplewood Nature Center.
  • Why Go: Take you littlest ones and learn about squirrels and why they store acorns away.
  • Geared Toward: Children birth to 5 years.
  • Price: $5 per child. Register by Sept. 16.
