Kids Planner: Outdoor Music, Crafts and Spiders
Want to get out on a summer day (or night) and do something with your family? Here are a few ideas.
It's another activity-filled summer week. Don't forget to get out and enjoy all that a Minnesota summer has to offer with your family this week.
- When/Where: Aug. 3 – 7 at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo.
- Why Go: Check out the animals, eat some food, watch the demolition derby and see a pig race. What’s not to like? There is also a full lineup of music including the Rockin’ Hollywoods on Saturday night.
- Geared Toward: Anyone who likes a fair.
- Price: $7 per adult, $4 per child.

Sun Crafts
- When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the .
- Why Go: Make crafts that involve the sun including a picture using photosensitive paper.
- Geared Toward: Children ages 6-12.
- Price: Free.

- Why Go: Nothing says summer like outdoor music! These concerts feature free dance instruction to really get you moving with the music.
- Geared Toward: The whole family.
- Price: Free.
Super Spiders
- When/Where: Saturday, August 13 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the Maplewood Nature Center.
- Why Go: Learn all about these hugely beneficial arachnids.
- Geared Toward: Children ages 4–10 with an adult.
- Price: $4 per child (prepay by Aug. 11).
