Kids Planner: See Wild Animals this Weekend

Oakdale Patch suggests things to do around town with your family.

Camp out, go sliding or see some wild animals this week. Here are a few family activities happening in the Oakdale area:

Carver Lake Campout

  • When/Where: Friday, July 15th at 5p.m. to Saturday, July 16th at noon at Carver Lake Park in Woodbury.
  • Why Go: If you’ve never camped this is a great way to ease your way into it.  Food is provided and you will be given a supply list when you register.
  • Geared Toward: Families with children 4-12.
  • Price: $10 per person. (Call 651-714-3583 to preregister)

Fishing Contest

  • When/Where: Saturday, July 16th from 9 a.m. – noon at .
  • Why Go: Spend the morning dropping a line and bonding with your kids over a bucket of bait.  Prizes will be awarded in various categories and a complimentary lunch is provided from 11 a.m. – noon.
  • Geared Toward: Ages 3 – 18.
  • Price: $5 per participant – registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Tanner’s Lake Picnic Shelter.

Water Slide

  • When/Where:  Friday, July 15 from 1-3:30 p.m. at .
  • Why Go: This is the second week for Oakdale’s homemade water slide!  
  • Geared Toward: Kids of all ages. (must be accompanied by an adult)
  • Price: Free.

Dakota Wild Animals Open House

  • When/Where: Tuesday, July 19 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Woodbury Library.
  • Why Go: Pick up some new bedtime stories and while you’re there see a variety of wild animals up close.
  • Geared Toward: Kids of all ages.
  • Price: Free.

Plan Ahead: Sun-Sational

  • When/Where: Friday, July 22 from at the Oakdale Discovery Center.
  • Why Go: Wondering how that big yellow ball in the sky does all that it does?  Check out this class!
  • Geared Toward: Children ages 3 – 10.
  • Price: $7 per participant.
  • Register by: Friday, July 15.
