Why visit an art gallery in the Twin Cities when there's one practically in your backyard?
Each month, the work of a featured local artist or artisan is displayed at the Oakdale Discovery Center.
The Oakdale Discovery Center featured Oakdale resident and artist Tom Flynn's work during the month of February, which included photography on canvas and gunpowder on masonite.
"Tom's work is amazing," said Deb Ramsey of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Starting March 1, the Discovery Center will feature the pastel paintings of St. Paul artist Mary Sazenski starting March 1.
Ramsey said she noticed Sazenski's work hanging at Dunn Bros Coffee in Oakdale.
"I was very impressed with her work," Ramsey said.
The Oakdale Discovery Center has been featuring area artists for four years. The center accepts artists both in Oakdale and the surrounding area.
Hours for the Discovery Center are: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Thursdays: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays: noon to 4 p.m.; and Sundays: 1 to 4 p.m.
