Oakdale Gears Up for Inaugural Art Fair

Titled "The Nature of Art," the two-day event will be held at the Oakdale Discovery Center.

Area artists reached out to Oakdale this summer, asking the city to host an art fair.

Judging by the response, the city is “absolutely” looking to make it an annual event, according to Debbie Ramsey with the Oakdale Recreation Department.

Twenty-four artists so far have signed up for the inaugural art fair, “The Nature of Art.”

It’s set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13, at the Oakdale Discovery Center. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is free, but people will be able to purchase art from a wide range of mediums, Ramsey said, including:

  • fiber art

A number of the participating artists have had their work shown at the Discovery Center over the past five years, along with others whose work will be on display in Oakdale for the first time at the art fair.

The event will also feature “Kid’s Korner,” an introduction of art through children’s activities.

The Discovery Center is located at 4444 Hadley Ave. N. in Oakdale.
