Oakdale’s ‘Homemade Giant Slip and Slide’

The city's Parks and Recreation Department will bring the water slide out to Tower Park three more times this summer.

The water slide at Oakdale’s Tower Park will make three more appearances this summer.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department plans to set it up again from 1-3:30 p.m. on July 12, July 26 and Aug. 9 (all are Fridays), according to Mike Anderson, recreation coordinator.

“It’s basically a homemade giant slip and slide,” he said.

The slide is 30-40 feet long, Anderson said, and fire hoses are brought out to a hill at Tower Park, located at Eighth Street Lane North and Eighth Street North, near 10th Street and Hadley Avenue.

Up to 500 kids at a time (sometimes by the busload) often come out to enjoy the water slide, Anderson said.
