Bites Nearby: Get Your Treats At Kowalski's Boo Bash!

It's time again for Kowalski's annual Boo Bash, a community Halloween event designed especially for children.

The Kowalski’s annual Boo Bash is on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m.

“It’s a community Halloween event that is specifically geared toward children 12 and under,” said Pam Kasprzyk of Kowalski’s Markets.

The store's former culinary partner, Linda Anderson, started what's now called the Boo Bash the first year Kowalski’s opened in Woodbury, Kasprzyk said.

“It’s a safe and warm Halloween environment that parents can take their costumed kids out to for an evening of fun,” she said.

According to Kaspryzk, last year over 1,000 kids attended the Kowalski’s Woodbury Boo Bash and if you combine the attendance from the other Boo Bash Kowalski’s locations, over 4,000 children attended.

“When the kids arrive at Boo Bash, they receive their Kowalski’s trick-or-treat bag, a coloring book with crayons and then are directed to follow the pumpkin path throughout the store for their treats,” said Kasprzyk.

Kaspryzk said there are 15-plus, sweet and healthy treat stations located throughout the store. “Some of the treats are granola bars, apples, carrots, chips, pop, candy, cheese sticks, bakery cookies and milk,” she said.

Although Kowalski’s Markets Boo Bash is for kids 12 and under, it’s specifically targeted toward the younger ones. Treat stations are decorated with non-scary Halloween festive themes and even the volunteers at those treat stations are dressed up in fun Halloween costumes.

“Parents of toddlers can be assured this is a very, family friendly and non-scary Halloween event,” Kaspryzk said.

Parents have an opportunity to take photos of their costumed children at the end of the pumpkin path.

“We have set up a photo op area decorated with bales of hay, pumpkins and other festive items at the end of the pumpkin path,” Kaspryzk said.

What seem to be the most popular costumes that come through the Boo Bash?

“Whatever the big Disney movie is that year, the kids come dressed up as those characters," she said. "Other popular themed costumes are super heroes, firefighters, angels, witches and of course, animals!”

Kaspryzk recommends heading out to Kowalski’s Boo Bash even if your kids are too old, to grab a hot chocolate or coffee, sit back and enjoy the little ones.

“These kids are so darn cute! Boo Bash is just a fun opportunity for our community to come out and see these darling little costumed kids,” Kaspryzk said.

The Woodbury Kowalski’s Markets Boo Bash is Oct. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. and takes place inside the store. No tricks, just treats and costumes are highly encouraged!
