Kids Planner: Fall Fun For the Whole Family

Get out and enjoy what is supposed to be a lovely autumn weekend.

The weather is getting cooler and the leaves are starting to change. That just means that all the fun fall events are right around the corner. If you're looking for a taste of fall this weekend, here are some ideas from Oakdale Patch:

  • When/Where: Saturday, September 24th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Walton Park.
  • Why Go: What better way to get the wiggles out than a field filled with bounce houses? There are 14 inflatables geared towards a variety of ages so the little ones won’t get trampled.
  • Geared Towards: The whole family.
  • Price: Free.


Lions Park Berry Planting

  • When/Where: Saturday, September 24th at 10 a.m. at Lions Park in Maplewood.
  • Why Go: You’ve probably seen the construction at Lions Park as you drive down Century/Geneva. Now is your chance to teach your kids about giving back by helping to plant berry plants at the park. Plus if you ever wanted to try your hand at growing them yourself, you’ll be able to pick up some tips from the experts.
  • Geared Towards: The whole family.
  • Price: Free. Call 249-2170 to register.


Cider Creations

  • When/Where: Saturday, October 1st from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Oakdale Discovery Center.
  • Why Go: Cider is the quintessential fall drink and this class will teach you how to make it and what apples are best. You get to take home a half-gallon of cider so make sure to bring a clean container.
  • Geared Towards: The whole family.
  • Price: $8 per participant. Register by September 28.


Storyland

  • Why Go: This exhibit brings your kid’s favorite story books to life.
  • Geared Towards: Children 0-8.
  • Price: $8.95 per person.


Mercy Watson to the Rescue

  • Why Go: This play brings the children’s book to life with plenty of buttered toast.
  • Geared Towards: Kindergarten and older (but this book is aimed at the elementary school set).
  • Price: Varies depending on day and time.
