McDonald's Closes on Property near Oakdale Target, Oakdale Athletic Association Shifts Focus to East Side of Skyview Community School

A McDonald's construction manager said they hope to start building in April.

Oakdale residents soon won’t have to leave town to get a McMuffin, McChicken or McRib.

The owners of a new McDonald’s closed as planned on property located near and on 32nd Street, said Oakdale planner Whitney Ridlon.

McDonald’s hopes to start construction in April, according to an e-mail message sent to the city by a McDonald’s area construction manager.

I couldn’t reach the construction manager for comment on when the restaurant might open, but I’ll post an update when I’m able to get an answer.

Last Thursday, representatives from the Oakdale Athletic Association, Parks and Recreation Department and School District 622 met to discuss the athletic association’s desire to install lights at more fields within the city.

A parent from the association, Cory Lynch, has said because by the time they get access to the fields at 6 p.m., there’s little time left before it gets dark.

The association was focusing on land at north of 12th Street for the fields, but started looking at alternative sites after hearing back from School District 622 Business Services Director Dale Sundstrom that the district .

Lynch said that the meeting Thursday went well, and that the School District is open to adding lighting to fields on the east side of Skyview Community School. Next, he said, the Oakdale Athletic Association plans re-do its engineering work to make plans that fit the new site.
