Oakdale's second Caribou Coffee shop is open for business.
The coffee shop officially opened its doors on Friday after months of chatter about a second location opening up in Oakdale. The first Caribou Coffee in Oakdale is located off of Third Street next to Milios Sandwiches and across from Buffalo Wild Wings.
The new Caribou Coffee — located off of 10th Street in Bergen Plaza — boasts a drive-thru window, an amenity that its counterpart does not offer.

In addition to a drive-thru window, the Bergen Plaza location features community-centric décor, which is the company's new brand approach. Each new Caribou that springs up across the country will be decorated to reflect its designated community.
In fact, the unique character of Caribou’s coffeehouses helped to earn the company the top spot for décor in Zagat’s 2012 Fast-Food Survey for the quick refreshment category.
To celebrate the opening of Caribou's new location, the company has launched a “Text-to-Win Sweepstakes” to reward one lucky fan with free Caribou beverages for the rest of the year. To participate, fans who are Oakdale residents can simply text BERGEN to the short code 70626 through Nov. 25 for a chance to win.

We went through the drive through on Saturday at 10am though, and it was a very slow line. It took about 25 minutes to have 6 cars go through. The staff was very apologetic and even handed out free coffee cards for the wait, which was appreciated. Granted that it is a new location and they are still working out all of the kinks, but it seemed as though they had the drive-thru orders being made on the same machines and priority list as the inside customers. If that continues, the drive-thru line is going to remain very slow. In my opinion, they should have staff and machines dedicated to the drive-thru separate from the inside orders to speed things up. Otherwise you could have three internal orders ahead of a waiting car at the window. Hopefully the growing pains subside - I'll be back to try them again soon and give them the benefit of the doubt!
