Punch Pizza Sets Opening Date for New East Metro Location

The new restaurant is going in at the FedEx building in Woodbury's City Centre, near Valley Creek Road and Radio Drive.

Punch Neapolitan Pizza plans to open its new Woodbury location on Friday, Sept. 6.

“There’s a lot of buzz in Woodbury,” said Jenny Nyquist, director for Punch Pizza. “We’re anticipating being busy.”

Punch Pizza serves authentic wood-fired pizzas that come out of the oven in 90 seconds.

“We try to recreate what they do in Naples (Italy),” Nyquist said.

Punch Pizza also serves salads and beer and wine, and its menu will be the same as the Grand Avenue location in St. Paul, she said. The new restaurant is going in at the FedEx building in Woodbury’s City Centre, near Valley Creek Road and Radio Drive.

Crews on Friday were busy laying the distinctive tile for the wood-fire oven and getting the space ready for the opening.

The restaurant will seat nearly 70 people, and a patio along Valley Creek Road will have room for about 50, Nyquist said. About 30 employees will be hired, and Punch Pizza is still taking applications. (There is a box near its entrance with information.)

Punch had been eyeing Woodbury for about three years, Nyquist said.

“It just fits,” she said.
