Visions for Vacancies: What Would You Like to See Fill the Former Curves Space near 10th Street and Geneva Avenue?

Tell us what you'd like to see move into this vacant space.

A nice spot at the end of the strip just northeast of 10th Street and Geneva Avenue sits empty. What would you like to see fill the space?

Neighbors to the space are and .

Leasing agent Jodi Walfoort of Suntide Commercial Realty said the space formerly housed a Curves gym for women, and is set up well for another fitness-oriented business to move in. There's parking on two sides of the building, with enough capacity for a business that offers classes, she said, such as a yoga or Pilates studio.

A well-managed hangout for teens would be nice. Snacks for sale, a sound system where kids take turns playing something off their ipods, maybe ping-pong, foosball and pool tables, frozen pizzas you buy and bake yourself in toaster ovens, maybe a smoothy bar, a couple of computers, wifi, possibly a tv or two. Always two adults on duty, zero tolerance of tobacco, etc. Could even have a couple pieces of workout equipment in a partitioned area.

Sounds like restaurants are the theme, here and on Facebook (http://on.fb.me/HDClMb), although the proximity to Tartan would make it a good spot for a teen center, too.

Chipolte. PLEASE! We need that in Oakdale!! For good Chinese - HUNAN GARDEN off 10th and Hadley is delicious. The woman who runs it does an amazing job. She is so hardworking, adores her customers and the prices are very reasonable. Try it!

I would caution you not to get your hopes up for any type of establishment that people in Oakdale would actually enjoy patronizing, because the Met council will determine that its impact will require tens of thousands of dollars in approval fees.
