Award-Winning Writer Speaks, Do Away with Leap Second?

The leap second is thrown in every few years to synchronize atomic clocks, according to the article, but the U.S. wants to do away with it because it poses problems in systems where exactly synchronized time is important—like air traffic control or the stock market.

5. On this day in 2007, the first McDonald’s drive-through restaurant opened in Beijing, according to history.com.
