Cat Burglar, Suspicious Underwear, Cured by Burger King?: Oakdale Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Oakdale Police Department from May 3-8.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

May 3

A caller told police he saw a man with a flashlight walking near Apollo Heating the night before and requested extra patrols due to previous thefts.

Several items were reported stolen from an attached garage at the 1700 block of Hale Avenue.

May 4

Officers learned that a semi truck blocking the road at 10th Street and Geneva Avenue had run out of gas. It was eventually towed.

A window of a car parked at Pinz was broken and several items were stolen from the vehicle.

Police were called about a verbal domestic at the 1500 block of Hallmark Circle that broke out because one person got upset because the other didn’t have a lighter.

Police stopped a car driving on the wrong side of the road on Grafton Avenue near Seventh Street and the driver was booked on suspicion of DWI.

A resident at the 6500 block of 20th Street told police antiques had been stolen from space above his garage.

Police were called to Riley’s Pub about a woman who was apparently having difficulty walking. She told police she fell due to her arthritis, but she also displayed signs of being intoxicated and had urinated on herself. The 64-year-old was transported to Ramsey County detox.

Residents called police about a woman because they were concerned she was excessively spanking her child at Marcus Cinemas. Officers made contact with the woman and child. The mother said the incident followed a temper tantrum. The child appeared to be fine. Police advised the woman to beware of her surroundings when disciplining her child.

May 5

A resident was cited for theft after stealing $13 worth of MSM horse supplement from Mills Fleet Farm.

A resident found women’s underwear, a bra and shorts under a walking bridge at the 5500 block of Golfview Avenue. The items were turned in to the Oakdale police property room.

A snow blower and John Deere tractor were reported stolen from a garage at the 600 block of Glenbrook Avenue.

Police were called about two women carrying a swing set near the 1500 block of Hadley Avenue. Officers learned it was in a yard with a “free” sign on it and let the women continue on their way.

May 6

A truck at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was broken into and several items were stolen.

A resident at the 6800 block of Eighth Street Lane North came to the Oakdale Police Department to report harassment from neighbors. He said neighbors are spreading rumors that he’s a drug dealer, staring at him and following him in and out of the area. He told officers he didn’t have that problem when he lived in Woodbury and people in Oakdale are racist. Police learned that he has reported similar incidents in Woodbury and Oakdale. The man was advised to call authorities when the incidents are occurring.

A resident at the 800 block of Hadley Avenue called police after she noticed her gloves had been moved from the kitchen area onto her bed. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing was missing. The caller’s cat was home alone at the time and may have moved the gloves.

May 7

After receiving a call about a possible unattended fire near the 3600 block of Gershwin Avenue, police determined the caller was seeing light reflecting off a small pond.

A “KOPS” alert was put out for a man with a gun yelling for a woman’s “baby daddy” to come out of a townhome at the 1300 block of Gentry Avenue. He later called the woman and threatened to shoot her.

Someone cut custom cottonwood screens at Echo Ridge in an apparent attempt to obtain copper. No copper was missing but the damage to the screens was estimated at $10,000.

A resident burning dry grass at the 2800 block of Hillvale Court was cited and advised of the city’s ordinances.

A third party called police about a man throwing up “yellow stuff” at the 6400 block of Upper 48th Street. Police found him outside eating Burger King and he said he was fine.

Three juveniles found near the scene of a small grass fire that was put out near the 6200 block of 13th Street admitted to playing with matches. The findings were forwarded to the county attorney for possible charges.

May 8

Hydrant flushing in the area of Target tripped an alarm at the store.
