Couples event planned at Oak Marsh; historical society gets historic toaster

  1. The weather should be sunny with a high near 80 today, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
  2. Oak Marsh Golf Club is holding an event for couples tomorrow evening called “Up Norte” night. The evening includes nine holes of golf, a cart, dinner and prizes, including a prize for the best dressed, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for a price of $95. Call 651-730-8886, extension 3, to reserve a spot.
  3. If you haven’t been following the story of teachers Dan and Sheryl Krengel’s trip to Beijing, it’s worth a read. So far, blogger Sheryl Krengel has chronicled getting to China, moving in and some of the requirements that new residents have to meet.
  4. The Washington County Historical Society was given an historic toaster, the Pioneer Press reports. Charles Strite is said to have invented the pop-up toaster in Stillwater, according to the report.
  5. Washington County wants your views on recycling, according to a press release. The county is updating its waste management plan, and it’s looking for feedback from residents and businesses about barriers to recycling and opportunities to increase recycling. If you have thoughts on the subject, go to the county’s public health website and choose either the residential or business survey.
