Five Things You Should Know Today: July 15

Lacrosse tournament, fishing contest and garden tour are planned this weekend.

  1. There’s a 50 percent chance of rain today, and the weather will be partly sunny with a high near 87, according to the National Weather Service forecast. Severe thunderstorms producing strong wind and hail are possible today, according to a hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather Service.
  2. The St. Croix Garden Tour, a benefit event for FamilyMeans that , takes place Saturday. Tickets cost $15.
  3. An Oakdale Athletic Association youth lacrosse tournament will take place at on Friday and Saturday.
  4. Give your kid a chance to reel in a prize-winning fish at the second annual youth fishing contest sponsored by the Oakdale Parks and Recreation Department on Saturday. The contest starts at 9 a.m. and a free lunch will be served.
  5. The last Minnesota governor who didn’t have a government shutdown during his time in office, Jesse Ventura, turns 60 today.
