Five Things You Should Know Today: July 19

It'll be another hot day today ... and today's Washington County Board meeting is canceled due to lack of quorum.

  1. Well, it’s hardly news, but it’s going to be hot again today. Oakdale is still under an excessive heat warning, and a hazardous weather outlook, due to the heat and chance of thunderstorms. There’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today with a predicted high near 96, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The heat index value could go as high as 111.
  2. At tonight’s District 622 School Board meeting, board members are scheduled to vote on whether to , or to simply ask for a renewal of a current operating levy.
  3. There will be no Washington County Board meeting today because at the National Association of Counties conference.
  4. Small business owners, or those who aspire to be, can get personalized assistance from MN SCORE counselors at the R. H. Stafford Branch library in Woodbury today from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
  5. Dr. Charles Horace Mayo, one of the founders of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, was born on this day in 1865. He was quoted as saying, “Worry affects the circulation, the heart, the glands, the whole nervous system. I have never known a man who died from overwork, but many who died from doubt.”
