Five Things You Should Know Today: June 6

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook that includes thunderstorms and heat.

  1. The National Weather Service is warning of severe thunderstorms and heat today. “Excessive” heat and humidity are possible today and Tuesday, according to the warning. Today’s heat index will likely reach “well into the 90s,” the warning says.  According to the National Weather Service forecast, there’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today and tonight. The weather will be mostly sunny with a high near 90, the forecast says.
  2. If you’re not quite sure whether you’re ready for “America’s Got Talent” just yet, you might want to start with tonight’s talent competition from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at the club. The competitions take place on Mondays, with a grand finale contest June 18.  The entry cost is $5. Click here for more information.
  3. Be extra polite at work this week. It’s National Business Etiquette week. Have a piece of business etiquette advice to share? Put it in the comments … oops, we meant, “Please, put it in the comments. Thank you!”
  4. A ceremony marking the start of the demolition of the Oakdale Mall takes place June 15. According to the city's Facebook page, anyone planning to attend should R.S.V.P. by calling 651-730-2719 to ensure that they don’t run out of cupcakes.
