Five Things You Should Know Today: June 7

Nationally known singers are coming to Lake Elmo. It'll be another hot one today.

  1. It’s going to be another hot day with the potential for storms. Excessive heat and humidity is likely according to a National Weather Service hazardous weather outlook. Severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and hail are possible late tonight into Wednesday, according to the weather outlook. The weather will be mostly sunny, with a high of 95, according to the National Weather Service forecast, and gusts of wind could reach 31 mph.
  2. If you’re a birding enthusiast, or just curious, you might want to check out tonight’s Outdoor Speaker Series session on the subject led by naturalist Jill Sadler. The free event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the amphitheater. 
  3. The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office decided not to charge Washington County Commissioner Bill Pulkrabek with a felony in connection with an accusation of domestic assault. Woodbury’s city attorney is now considering whether to charge him with a misdemeanor. 
  4. On this day in 1958, Minnesota music legend Prince was born. He turns 53.
  5. Two singers made famous last year on “America’s Got Talent” will be in Lake Elmo in July. Christina and Ali Christensen, who both have cystic fibrosis, will sing in a benefit music festival July 23 to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
