Five things you should know on Thursday, Sept. 29.
1. There's a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service forecast, and wind gusts could get up to 46 mph. It'll be mostly sunny with a high near 67, the forecast says.
2. The owners of Oakdale's are giving a community education class on how to roast coffee. There are still three spots left according to their Facebook page.
3. Oakdale’s Parks and Recreation Department just posted a gallery of photos from the “family fun flatables” event. If you were there, better check to see you're in the pictures.

4. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced yesterday that on Saturday, Oct. 29, they’ll be collecting potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Washington County Government Center at 14949 62nd St. N. in Stillwater. The service is free and anonymous—no questions asked—according to a press release.
5. On this day in 1907 “The Singing Cowboy,” Gene Autry was born. Drummer for The Beatles Ringo Starr said Gene Autry was his first musical influence.
