Five Things You Should Know Today: Local Haunt is Open, and SNL Debuted on this Day

Five things to know on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

1. The weather will be sunny with a high near 77, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

2. There’s a free workshop on the basics of solar energy at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Maplewood Nature Center. If you can’t make it, a similar workshop will be held next Thursday at the Oakdale Discovery Center.

3. If you’re looking for some Halloween fun, the Fright Farm haunted house is now open on weekends at the Ramsey County Fairgrounds at Frost and White Bear avenues in Maplewood. Tickets are $10 and the event is a fundraiser for Ramsey County D.A.R.E.

4. The Minnesota Fire Service Foundation is working to raise money for a memorial honoring fallen firefighters at the Minnesota State Capitol, according to a press release from the City of Oakdale.
