Five Things You Should Know Today: September 28

Five things you should know today for Wednesday, Sept. 28.

1. The weather today will be mostly sunny with a high near 77, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

2. Dr. Houstoun Clinch and Katie Jenkins were honored by the District 622 School Board last night for performing a surgery free of charge to remove a tumor from Oakdale Elementary School social worker Jennie Kula’s beloved rat, Princess Eloise.

3. Granted, none of us want to think about snow just yet, but Oakdale’s Parks and Recreation Commission is seeking input on whether to renew the agreement with Washington County to groom the ski trails at , according to the Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page. If they weren’t groomed, the paved trails would be plowed for walking, and the un-groomed grass trails would be available for cross country skiing or snowshoeing. Thoughts? 4. Oakdale Mixed Martial Arts studio was featured on WCCO television Monday night in a story about how many of the gym’s attendees go for the fitness rather than the fighting.

5. Actress and singer Gwyneth Paltrow turns 40 today. Paltrow won an Emmy recently for her guest role as Holly Holiday on FOX hit Glee.
