Five Things You Should Know Today: September 12

Parents meeting on what's new at Tartan tonight.

  1. The weather will be sunny, warm and windy today, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The high will be near 89, and wind gusts could be as high as 29 mph, the forecast says.
  2. Oakdale’s environmental management commission has an opening. The commission addresses environmental issues such as recycling, air and water quality and saving energy. Meetings are once per month. For more information call 651-730-2704.
  3. Somehow we missed this before school started, but better late than never! The staff at District 622 put together a little welcome-back music video.
  4. parents: There’s a parents meeting at the school tonight at 7 p.m. on the topic: “What’s New at Tartan this Year?”
  5. On this day in 1953, John F. Kennedy married Jaqueline L. Bouvier, according to history.com. More than 750 guests attended and more than 3,000 onlookers waited outside to try to see the newlyweds, according to the website. Kennedy became president seven years later.
