More Cancellations Coming in with the Snow

More local organizations are encouraging people to stay inside by canceling programs as the snow piles up.

About 6 inches of snow fell overnight, according to the National Weather Service, and 7 to 11 inches more could accumulate today.

Local organizations and schools are closing their doors today due to the storm.

• Classes at St. Mary's University's Oakdale campus are canceled.
• Human Services Inc., has closed its offices and canceled all transportation services planned for today.
• The Educational Options for Parents workshop at Skyview Community School has been cancelled.
• The Oakdale Business and Professional Association's Holiday Helping Hands gift-wrapping and distribution planned at Tartan High School today is canceled.
• The Knowledge Bowl and Quiz Bowl contest at North High School scheduled for today has been canceled.
• The boys basketball B and JV home games scheduled for Saturday morning have been canceled, as well as the Boys Varsity Breakdown Classic at Minnetonka High School planned for Saturday evening.
• A wrestling tournament planned Saturday morning at Park High School is also canceled.
• The ACT test planned at Woodbury High School today will be rescheduled.
• Hill-Murray High School's performance today of "Holiday Inn" has been canceled.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reported numerous crashes due to the storm, including an accident on Interstate 694 near the 10th Street at about 10:15 a.m.

Between midnight and 6 a.m. there were 59 vehicles that spun out or went off the road in the metro area, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
