Updated: NBC's 'The Voice' Contestant Has Ties to Oakdale, Makes 'Top 6'

Nicholas David of NBC's "The Voice" used to play music in Oakdale.

Nicholas David has been performing on hundreds of thousands of televisions across America for the past several weeks, but he used to sing for a much smaller crowd in Oakdale.

Nicholas David, a contestant on NBC's hit TV show "The Voice" used to perform for the residents of Oak Meadows Senior Living in Oakdale. David — known for his "unique soulful style" — used to play piano and sing with his grandfather at Oak Meadows.

"His grandma and grandpa lived at Oak Meadows and he used to come out here and play piano and sing, while his grampa played accordion and sang," said Oak Meadows Director of Community Relations Kim Utecht Prayfrock in an email to Oakdale Patch. "His grandparents are now in heaven, but they would have been so proud."
