Oakdale Man Killed in Early Morning Crash

State patrol says Bruno Sagnweu, of Oakdale, drove into oncoming traffic and was broadsided by a semi truck on June 19.

An Oakdale man died this morning in a two-vehicle crash in Orono.

Bruno Sagnweu, 37, of Oakdale, was driving a 1992 Honda Accord westbound on Highway 12 in Orono when he lost control of his car around 6:45 a.m. near County Road 6.

Sagnweu's car struck the roadside wall and veered into oncoming traffic, where it was broadsided by a semi truck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Sagnweu died in the accident.

Highway 12 near the border of Orono and Long Lake was shut down in both directions following the crash this morning and remained closed nearly three hours later. 

Road conditions were wet at the time of the accident, and the crash is being described as a broadside.

The State Patrol has identified the driver of the semi truck as 60-year-old Dale Poirie of Dassal, Minn. Poirie did not suffer any apparant injuries, according to the State Patrol.

First responders from a variety of departments were dispatched to the scene, including the Long Lake Fire Department, Orono Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol and an air care unit.
