Town Hall Meeting Tomorrow, Orchestra and Chorus Perform Sunday

Five things you should know today, Friday, Jan. 27

1. There’s a 60 percent chance of precipitation today, and snow is likely (mainly after noon), according to the National Weather Service forecast. The high will be near 33, and snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible, according to the forecast.

2. Oakdale’s representatives at the Capitol will be at Maplewood City Hall at 9:30 a.m. Saturday for a town hall meeting. Ask questions of Sen. Chuck Wiger, Rep. Nora Slawik and Rep. Leon Lillie at the event.

3. The East Metro Symphony Orchestra and the Twin Cities Show Chorus will perform a “Festival of American Original Song,” at 3 p.m. Sunday at Woodbury’s East Ridge High School.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.

4. The Maplewood Mall is losing its Gap store, which has been there for two decades, according to the Pioneer Press.

5. Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum is holding a candle-lighting ceremony today in commemoration.
