Week in Review: April 24 Edition
A Woodbury man was charged with using Facebook to steal the identities of an Oakdale woman and others.
Happy Easter, everyone! Here is a brief summary of what made news in Oakdale this past week:
- A new physical therapy clinic called Viverant opened up in The Oaks Business Park.
- The City of Oakdale cut its energy bill by $61,000 from 2009 to 2010, the Environmental Management Commission learned at its Monday meeting.
- A woman and a teenage boy reported being trapped in an apartment in an incident police said was likely motivated by bias.
- The week’s Oakdale Patch Whiz Kid was Alick Swiden, who, with the help of volunteers, rebuilt a dock on Mud Lake.
- A Woodbury man was charged with stealing the identity of an Oakdale woman and others by chatting with them through Facebook while posing as a friend.
- Not everything turned in at Oakdale’s Citywide Clean Up Saturday went to the junk yard. A couple was out collecting bikes to be fixed up and given away.
- Some Tartan High School students stayed silent for a day in a show of support for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students who are silenced by bullying.
- The social justice team at is hoping to bring together members of churches throughout Washington County Tuesday night for a panel discussion on homelessness in the county, and discussions on how the faith community can work together to address it.
- Twin Cities Pawn was burglarized Thursday, April 21.
- In Sports: Tartan’s softball team fell to Richfield on Monday. A Tartan versus Woodbury High School baseball game had to be stopped due to the power going out mid-game Thursday at Midway Stadium.
