Week in Review: Feb. 27 Edition

The Oakdale City Council voted to stop funding lifeguards at Tanners Lake Beach last week.

Here is a brief summary of what made news in Oakdale this past week:

  • Staff members from throughout District 622 are organizing an event called 622 Project Family Connect that will bring together representatives from about 50 organizations that provide services for low-income people. The event is intended to connect struggling families with the resources available to them. They're seeking 150 volunteers to help with the event.
  • Girl Scout cookie sales are in full swing, and a local group of dynamic saleswomen were featured as last week’s Whiz Kids
  • The Oakdale City Council voted Tuesday to stop funding lifeguards at Tanners Lake Beach and put the money saved toward other parks and recreation programs.
  • held a cultural fair Thursday night that featured music, dancing art and food from around the world.
