Week in Review: June 5 Edition
A house fire, and the arrest of Washington County Commissioner Bill Pulkrabek took place in the last week.
Here's what made news in Oakdale in the past week:
- Fire destroyed a home in the 5400 block of Golfview Avenue late Monday. No one was injured in the blaze.
- Oakdale’s legislators say they’re bracing for a state government shutdown due to an inability to reach a budget compromise by July 1.
- A bill-signing ceremony for Tyler’s Law took place Tuesday in Gov. Mark Dayton’s office. The bill requires carbon monoxide education.
- A softball tournament this weekend was dedicated to Jason Naugle, a Tartan High School graduate who died in his late twenties in a plane crash.
- Washington County Commissioner and former Oakdale mayor Bill Pulkrabek was arrested May 30 for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend at his Woodbury residence. The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office has said charges are on hold until the Woodbury Police Department finishes its investigation.
- third grade teacher Stacie Linnell is our latest Oakdale Patch Exceptional Educator.
- got inaugural volunteer award. The church organizes Servfest each August, an event where volunteers clean up and improve Oakdale schools.
- An Oakdale video producer commandeered channel 16 this weekend to have fun and honor his sister’s memory.
- Coming up: On Tuesday, a presentation on outdoor birding will take place at the as part of the Outdoor Speaker Series going on all summer long.
- In sports: Tartan’s baseball team fell to Cretin-Derham Hall Tuesday in a playoff game.
