Week in Review: May 22 Edition
Oakdale's city administrator said a community center isn't viable at the Oakdale Mall site. A groundbreaking for the new McDonald's near Target took place Wednesday.
In case you missed something, here's what made news in Oakdale this past week:
- Last Monday, Law Enforcement Memorial Day was commemorated with a ceremony at the historic courthouse in Stillwater.
- City administrator Craig Waldron said a community center is not a viable option for the Oakdale Mall site in an interview with Oakdale Patch.
- Oakdale’s state legislators both said they had some concerns with a proposal for a new Vikings stadium in Arden Hills.
- The Oakdale Environmental Management Commission is planning to promote the availability of water-saving aerators and spray valves at discounted rates to businesses, however they want to look into giving away the aerators for free.
- Oakdale’s Parks and Recreation Department has a new hand-painted van for its In the Streets program, which takes recreation programs into neighborhoods.
- A groundbreaking for the new McDonald’s restaurant near was held Wednesday.
- Priest Bill Martin is leaving Guardian Angels Church for a parish in Richfield.
- This week’s Oakdale Patch Whiz Kid is doing everything he can to prepare for a career as a politician.
- A black bear was seen in Oakdale Friday morning. Officials say it is probably the same one that was killed later Friday near Interstate 494/694.
- Tartan High School’s Relay for Life was Friday through Saturday. See photos here and video here.
- In sports: Tartan High School started a trap shooting team this year. Tartan’s boys golf team won a conference triangular. Tartan's JV boys track team took second place in a conference meet.
