Here's the rundown of what made news in Oakdale during the past week:
- is collecting money for the care of the three children whose parents died in a murder-suicide incident in an Oakdale home a couple of weeks ago.
- Oakdale City Council members said they would support limiting the number of pawnshops in the city to one due to concerns about the city’s image.
- An 80-person picnic shelter at the Oakdale Nature Preserve was dedicated Tuesday. The shelter offers electricity and a beautiful view of the surrounding area.
- More than 10 inflatables drew families to Walton Park in droves last weekend. We got some great pictures.
- Oakdale native John Lamson is a crew chief for the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels.

- Volunteers planned to install a new playground at Carol Mathey’s Center for Children and Families over the weekend.
