Oakdale is replacing its annual haunted hayride with a flashlight pumpkin hunt this year.
So many other groups and businesses hold haunted hayrides, and the city wanted to find something different for Oakdale residents, said Mike Anderson, recreation coordinator.
“We thought it was kind of unique,” he said.
The event is set for 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Oakdale Discovery Center. It’s for kids up to age 12.
The cost is $12, and people must register by Oct. 22, either at the Discovery Center or online.
Youngsters can come in costume, and there will also be a bonfire, deejay, games, crafts and treats, Anderson said.
The city has ordered 200 pumpkins, which will be placed throughout the Nature Preserve.
